What do you think of Just Stop Oil protests?

Just Stop Oil (JSO) is a “nonviolent civil resistance group demanding the UK Government stop licensing all new oil, gas and coal projects.” according to its website. In recent days, it has painted Stonehenge orange, as well as private jets at a UK airfield. They were hoping to get Taylor Swift's private jet, which has been scrutinized for having record-high carbon emissions, but it wasn't there.

UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called the group's actions “disgraceful"; Druids were particularly angry about defacing Stonehenge, which they view as a sacred site.

Personally, I am fine with peaceful protests, but not when it damages or defaces the property of others. IMHO, JSO protesters should face the punishment of having their own bodies painted orange.

I only got a glimpse at top line the answer of @EmmaMary. But I agree w/ her that they are lowlifes! If you block a road, then I should legally be able to fire ONE warning shot, if you do not move from the road, then I get to put my Big-Ass Jeep it in 4x4 low, and slowly roll my 4,835lbs Jeep just right over the stragglers (Who would all receive posthumous Darwin awards). If they superglue their hands to the road…. Their hands should be surgically amputated! (trust me, after the FIRST amputation, it would all NEVER EVER happen again!) and… If you destroy a piece of art, then the assets of your organization, and the assets of its members should be seized and sold auction to help defray the cost of restoring the art. As for the A$$HOLES who destroyed the art by pouring paint on it… They should get a minimum of 15 to 20 years in prison, being sold to whomever has the most cigarettes! My favorite of these just stop oil TYPE of activists, were the ones who were dumb enough to chain themselves to two trailers, not realizing they were on a Native American Reservation where US law does not apply! The chief of police literally crashed through the middle of the two trailers while the lowlifes were still chained to them!!! They wanted to stop people from going to Coachella. But they all ended up in the hospital! THAT was the greatest "instant karma” I've ever seen! If they did that in the UK, Germany, and everywhere else these Just Stop Oil morons do this, It would just stop! As for the “Just Stop Just Stop Oil” woman who proudly posed as she spray-painted the private jet! She should sit in prison until her family pays off the $70,000 - $180,000 that it costs to paint that private jet! As well as the rental costs of another Jet, While That one is out of service! Also, I don’t care if it’s water soluble… If any got into the Jet engine, they will need to be completely re-built to make sure NO contaminants are inside the engine! The cost to overhaul Jet Engines are $200,000 to $300,000 PER ENGINE!

It’s time we ALL learned something from the Native American Rangers, and did this to anyone blocking a public roadway! If they superglue their hands to the road… Amputate their hands, IF it’s still alive when it FINALLY get’s to the hospital, THEN re-attach it! Then sentence them to 15yrs! I guarantee you ALL of this bullsh! t would stop! I LOVE the cries from the a$$holes who blocked that road for hours, causing a 15 mile backup! “Please! We are environmental protesters!” The Native American Rangers were like DILLIGAF* "Well, we do not, and WE have big-ass trucks, that don't give a fvck about you, or your safety! The best part was the fact that a group of native Americans actually walked up to them and LITERALLY warned them “You clearly have NO idea where you are! Because this is Tribal land, so you really need to move your protest, a mile down the road, where you're back in the United States! Because if you're on Native Land when the Rangers get here, they are NOT going to give a fuck about your cause, or your safety! They're just gonna move you in the quickest way possible, arrest you, and you're going to be in prison in a place that is NOT the United States! If you are NOT Native American, you have NO rights here!

@exitseven Right 😁! My mind changed on this when I saw a man in England pleading with “Just Stop Oil” to please move. Pleading “my wife is 9mos pregnant, she’s in labor, we NEED to get to the hospital right now!” They just looked at him and said "then you should have called an ambulance, we have a blue light policy, we only move for emergency vehicles"! He called 999 (the UK’s 911) and the police moved them by force w/in 5 minutes, but the woman very nearly did not make it to the hospital, and nearly delivered her baby before she got to the delivery room! Fvck them! They deserve whatever happens to them!

If the causeway somehow got blocked and emergency vehicles somehow could not pass it could cause somebody's life. Geo DeSantis decided that if somebody was to get run over closing a bridge that they would not be prosecuted. The protests stopped the next day.

@exitseven Good! I absolutely bet it did! Like I said in my answer, if we could start running them over, they stop blocking the roads IMMEDIATELY! I truly had no idea that it had already happened here in Florida! I HATE politics, but I LOVE our Governor! I met him a few times several years ago when I was lobbying for a law that gave father’s equal rights in divorce, remove the presumption that mothers are the best parent to take care of small children, (known as the tender years doctrine), and that every other weekend is NOT enough to be an equal parent! As of June last year, the new law went into effect. It eliminated "custody" from divorces, and mandated that both parents co-parent the child/children, the children should spend EQUAL amount of time at the father's house as they do at the mother's! Also, if one of the parents moves, THEY must pay the expense of transporting the child back and forth from the other parent's home, to ensure the children spend equal time at both parent’s Homes! It also allows men who are not married to a mother who gives up the child without telling him, to reverse the adoption and become the primary residential parent (in old-speak, he gets full custody)

Again, I DESPISE politics, but Governor DeSantis has done a great job in Florida. After the hurricane on the West Coast, that collapsed the bridge to Sanibel Island, engineers were saying it could take six months to a year to rebuild the bridge! Governor DeSantis had that bridge patched up, and emergency vehicles were able to go over the bridge within two days. About a week later, it was open to regular traffic! Governor DeSantis has also gotten rid of so many regulations, and made Florida SO much more appealing to corporations, it's easier to find a good paying job in Florida now than it is to find an alligator… And they're everywhere! More and more people are now calling it. “The Free State of Florida”!

If these morons would completely stop using petroleum products maybe I would have a little more respect for them. If the walked or rode a bicycle everywhere and did not use electricity except for electricity they generated off the grid and Did not used fossil fuel to heat their homes. They can't use a bicycle. Rubber is made from petroleum. Their shoes are as well. Their clothes were made by machines that were constructed and maintained by petroleum based products. Their glasses, cellphones, backpacks literally everything they own was created via the use of petroleum or petroleum products. The only ways to be petroleum free is to live as the Amish OR become entirely self sufficient in a style reminiscent of the 1700s. Use animals to plow fields. Constructing the plow by hand. Tanning the leather by hand. Growing all your own food. Only source of power would be hydro via a waterwheel crafted by hand and circuitry implemented by hand and mined by hand and crafted by hand.

That is the reality of being petroleum, oil free. Is it possible? Absolutely. Is it feasible? Certainly. Is it worthwhile? Absolutely not. They had to get up at 4 am every day and typically didn't get to sleep until around midnight. They worked all day stopping for breakfast lunch and dinner. The wife helped every day as well. And the kids when they were old enough. It was a fairly miserable existence for most people. Give the technology and advancements we have made a blend of the 2 could be an option to reduce fossil fuel consumption but the issue is until there a stable and renewable alternative to fossil fuels and oil and petroleum we will be using them. Nuclear power for example could absolutely replace all energy sources especially those that burn fossil fuels. But idiots like JSO protest the use of nuclear power as well. So what are we meant to do lol. Can't use fossil fuels can't use nuclear power are we meant to just magically created energy and products... lol

Use of oil will eventually die out but we need time to perfect new technologies, you can't just do it overnight.
