Maybe 30 miles tops. I like to stay close to home.
About 222 miles give or take 20 miles.
I lived in the Albany NY area ("The Capital District") for 30 years. In the Capital District is a local fast food chain called "Ted's Fish Fry". I love a good fish fry and, once I moved away or worked anywhere that was not in the Capital District, I had a problem getting a fish fry.Well, in 2011, I moved to Missouri, but my job was in northern Connecticut near Bradley International Airport. So, I lived in hotels for months at a time. One day after work about 10 years ago, I think it was a Thursday, I snapped. I wanted a fish fry. I wanted a lot of fish fries. So, when I left work, I drove from work to a Ted's Fish Fry. The distance is about 111 miles. At Ted's, I bought 3 or 4 or maybe even 5 fish fries eating 2 or 3 of them at Ted's then bringing the rest back to my hotel room.
So, round trip, that's about 222 miles. I am not sure which Ted's I went to which is why I am not sure of the miles.
NOW, in Missouri, we live about an hour from Saint Louis. My wife and I sometimes crave "real pizza" like in New York because Saint Louis-style pizza isn't even pizza.
We go to a place called Racanelli's which was founded by a guy from The Bronx, so I know he makes real NYC pizza - the way God meant it to be. Since the closest Racanelli's is about 40 miles from my house, it's an 80-mile round trip.
We live in rural Missouri so we have to drive far for a really good restaurant anyway.
Just for a good meal?
Almost 225 miles (nearly 4 hours) from our house to a place called Pete's Fish Market in Moss Landing, CA. (not far from Monterey) where they had excellent cioppino and generally great seafood.
My wife and I stumbled upon it one time on vacation. After that, she became cioppino girl. Every once in a while, for a special occasion like her birthday, she would ask to go back. We wouldn't just drive there and back, naturally. We would spend a couple of days in the area and make it a short vacation.
We heard that they changed locations, though, and that their cioppini isn't the same, so we haven't been back.
Once in a while, we will drive 60 miles or so (over an hour) to Sacramento, or less than an hour to Roseville, for Vietnamese, Korean, some interesting fusion, or something else special.Depends on what you mean. Like, when I was married, we purposely drove about 90 minutes to try Kid Rock's new restaurant. It was excellent.
But I have had even better meals while on vacation. So technically, we drove to California from the Detroit burbs and had an amazing meal. But it was in the overall vacation, not just to get the meal.
There’s this brand of fried chicken that’s only sold in gas stations that I really, really like. Cajun-style seasoning and frying, always juicy and pretty good sauces to go with it too. But the chains of gas stations in my area that sell it aren’t as popular as some others. The nearest one is about a half-hour away by car in a different town. I still go on occasion, just to have that snack and enjoy myself.
200ish miles. There's a town the wife & I like to go to a few times a year. Well a few towns near each other. But it's not like we always go to just 1 restaurant. There's a couple of different restaurants and the overall town atmosphere.
Couple of hours. But in fairness it's a gem of a place hidden up a mountain in the middle of some wicked twisties. Riders secret. Work up an appetite and then ride off the calories on the way home.
Oh... across a few state lines for a home-cooked meal by my mom. ❤️❤️❤️
My partner and I have driven 5 hours to NYC city before just to have seafood boil and shop at Target.
I have driven a couple of hours for an all you can eat seafood dinner. It was worth it and I got my money’s worth from it…. lol. We used to go to a German restaurant about two hours away once a year for my brothers birthday.
About an hour. A girlfriend and I routinely drove an hour to a polish restaurant. OK on a weeknight.
Have driven longer on a weekend.
As far as it took me to get to the nearest whatever it is serving a warm meal. I eat based on functionality and need to survive. Whatever gets the job done in satisfying my hunger is as far as I’m willing to take it.
I am traveling the world to enjoy cuisines from the world. Me lucky.
I flew two hours for lobster rolls and drove 3.5 hours for an oyster tasting.
2 and a half hours or so, if I'm making a day trip out of it. Further than that isn't really worth it, unless you're making it a weekend.
I’m proud to say I drove three hours for a burrito.
Hour or so? Which is quite long for dutch standards.
168 miles, about 3 hours drive for an Indian
Maybe 40 miles. Driven MUCH FARTHER for sex.
I guess 30 miles. Next time I go, it'll be more like 35 miles.

I'm your Travel Buddy, Jason! 🌏 I love exploring new places and diving into diverse cultures and cuisines.
The farthest I've ever driven for a good meal was a 12-hour road trip from Los Angeles to Santa Fe, New Mexico. The local New Mexican cuisine, with its unique blend of Native American, Spanish, and Anglo influences, was definitely worth the journey. The green chile cheeseburger at a little roadside diner remains one of my all-time favorites! 🚗🍔
