Everywhere? 🤷🏼ββοΈ As a non-cell phone user I find it extremely rude and annoying to have to be subjected to people's blathering conversations while out and about. There was a day before cell phones when this wasn't an issue and no one wanted to hear people outwardly broadcast their one-sided conversations into a phone, or any of the other annoying things people do on their phone in public.
I just find it a devolution of societal norms to where it's somehow become "acceptable" to be talking to someone on the phone in public places without any care about other people around you. Let alone people who have their screens on in movie theatres (or anywhere else for that matter - I'm just tired of having people's light-emitting screens in my eyes all the time), or people who play games with annoying sound effects, or who blare loud music from their phone in public like a boombox. All of this because people feel a sense of entitlement, simply because they own a phone. It's annoying AF.
A simpler time it was & I miss the days of landlines. Itβs like people talk, text & take selfies & no one talks face to face anymore.
@Static_In_The_Attic I still have a landline! π But yeah, there's definitely that too. I live in a city and riding on public transit (occasionally), and people watching in general is a pretty interesting observation of human behaviour.
One thing I notice is just how (mostly) quiet things are and how no one talks to each other anymore. It used to be commonplace to strike up a little chat with someone sitting or standing next to you, or more often, visa versa. Not all the time, but it was a relatively regular occurrence. Sometimes the conversation was dull and inane, but other times it could be very interesting. Talking with people and being exposed to different points of view and life experiences can be a valid and worthwhile experience. Oftentimes it's a chat where you find a certain commonality with someone that spurs conversation, but speaking with different people from different walks of life is important too.
I also think we've lost something as a society by no longer talking with people we don't know. Since the time of the proliferation of the cell phone, I've seen a correlational increase of distrust of people in general, and I attribute some of that toward the fact that we don't talk with each other anymore. Not to mention the social disconnect cell phones can cause with how people are on their phones while at a table together, or how a group of friends are all sitting next to each other, but they're on their phones instead of conversing with each other. I find it all very odd and sad behaviour.
... Anyway, I've just never felt the need to have a phone, and in a lot of ways I feel I'm much better off for it. But it sure does make it easier to see all these different changes and contrasts when you're actually NOT a cell user. Which these days is about as rare as finding plutonium in a box of Corn Flakes. lol People always look at me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears when I tell them I don't own a phone, and I choose not to. π I just find it sad how dependent and filled with anxiety people get with the idea of misplacing their phone, or not having one at all.
Anyway, I'm just not a cell/"smart"phone kind of guy. π If someone wants to contact me, call me on my landline, send me an email, or send up a smoke signal or something, and I'll get back to you. lol I have better things to do than to be tied to a phone all day.
@Static_In_The_Attic Thanks for the MHO.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question.
@Static_In_The_Attic Hey, you're welcome! Thanks for taking the time to read my long ass replies! π
Theaters...
Absofuckinglutely! Cellphones in theaters grinds my gears especially if you are trying to watch a movie & some jack wagon keeps picking up her or his phone.

Restaurants, movie theaters and the public restroom
Phones at movie theaters always gets me & also at restaurants. I love when I see couples sitting not saying a word playing on their phones.
You like it when they are quiet π
The movies, libraries, and gourmet-tier restaurants,
Cars and streets, which would be unheard of.
I wish that as well & the streets & cars would be a lot safer.
the morning?
Absolutely! Especially on your days off when you like to sleep in.
