My moms boyfriend was arrested over a “probation violation “ (they do not state the offense) but upon googling, seems like a probation violation can be anything from a trivial matter such as not maintaining employment, not having a house or dwelling, going to the store at the wrong time all the way up to getting a speeding ticket, littering, association with friends who have committed other crimes,, etc…. It seems like they are under a damn microscope or thumbnail. I thought probation was meant to rehabilitate not to ostracize someone? You might as well put a sign on them saying I’m on probation and let people do the Nelson Munoz “Haha” to them.

He was on probation because he committed a crime; it was something more serious than singing off key in the church choir. Instead of getting sent to probation, he was offered a deal: no prison time in exchange for living a life "on the straight and narrow." He knew what the conditions were and he agreed to those conditions so that he could avoid going to prison and getting cornholed every day. The State kept its part of the bargain and - initially - he didn't go to jail. He NEVER would have gone to jail but he failed to maintain the conditions of his probation. Whatever you know about his violation probably comes from him and it is probably not an accurate description of what actually happened.
I have no sympathy for people who violate probation. None.
It may not seem fair. Probation is given in lieu of incarceration in jail. Courts set the terms of the probation or rules. They are very specific. If you violate those rules or terms you can be subject to arrest, confinement and additional charges. And get this, if you get in trouble again for something it can be grounds to increase bail, length of probation and even denial of probation. I kinda understand where they are coming from. Someone who commits a crime has little regard for others. Then they violate a direct court order so they are subject to rearrest. I have found that if you follow the rules your freedom is less affected. Until laws change that is the way it is.
Sometimes?
Of course. But let's be real; these people don't get put on probation as a result of making good decisions. There's not usually an extensive life history of responsibility and trustworthiness.
People on probation generally need to be babysat. Some people need more babysitting than others.
it's called probation for a reason and not "feel free to mess up again"
it's not supposed to be light... it is supposed to force you to do better, lol
Who cares, they committed a crime and they should just appreciate not being in jail or prison. They want to fuck around and brought this on themselves to go through that.
No i do not. After all they ate lucky to be given probation, it is quite right they have to adhere to terms and conditions of that.
Cry me a river. Don;t do the crime if you can't do the time.
No, probation and bond is stupid. Anyone who goes to jail, unless it's for political reasons, they should never leave the jail even after death. Bury them under the floors
Probation is still better than prison or jail.
