No, the U.S. Doesn't Grant the Right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

No, there the U. S does not grant the Right to,

If anyone is coming off my last take, This is NOT a rant about the government but rather me pointing out that some people are getting the Declaration confused with the Constitution.

No, the U.S. Doesn't Grant the Right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

That is the Declaration of Independence, This Document is where 'Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.' is called a right. Now what people who actually believe that this guarantees theses as a right of an American Citizen fail to understand is that the Declaration of Independence is not a legal framework for the rights of an American Citizen The Declaration did one thing and one thing only, It told the English that we are no longer an English Colony but rather a sovereign nation. It has nothing to do with what rights are legally guaranteed.

If that was the case the Military oath of enlistment would not be

No, the U.S. Doesn't Grant the Right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

And the Presidential Oath would not be

No, the U.S. Doesn't Grant the Right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

Now where in either of those does it say anything about the Declaration.

Notice the prominence the Constitution is given that is because the Constitution is what outlines not only how the government is supposed to function but also The Rights of a Citizen

They are outlined in the part of the Constitution known as the Bill of Rights

No, the U.S. Doesn't Grant the Right to "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

Now notice how there is ZERO mention of life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

"We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness;"

That is not something that is a right in this country,

That was a a Principaled Battle Cry, Something for us to rally behind and a fuck you to King George the Third, The English Troops and their Hessian Mercenaries.

So do not act like like you have a right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, because you don't
