Former Trump aide John McEntee promised a ban on pornography was coming in the United States in a recent interview with Daily Wire host Michael Knowles. McEntee had a senior position in the Trump White House and is a key contributor to the infamous Project 2025, a collection of policy proposals to transition the United States to Christian nationalist authoritarianism in the first 180 days of Trump's second term.

"You bring up the elephant in the room," McEntee told Knowles, "which is a stain on not only society but the entire dating culture as well, which is pornography. Whenever America bans that, which will be happening at some point, everyone will be much better off."

The Project 2025 plan specifically lists a ban on pornography stating, "[Pornography] is as addictive as any illicit drug and as psychologically destructive as any crime. Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned."

"The minute that goes away, this country will flourish," McEntee told Knowles.

No, I am against any sort of mandatory identification for this sort of stuff. Its a matter thats frowned upon in society so the last you want to do is give up verification information. Not to mention "Verify your age with your creditcard to access our free porn" scams have already existed for years. Yes, they give you free porn as they say that part is not a lie (I assume since I never was dumb enough to sign up for those), but in the background they sign you up for multiple very expensive subscriptions so now your stuck with $100 a month subscriptions you gotta cancel in time before they begin billing you. If they then force that kind of verification on websites a lot more people will get scammed.

Now do I believe that image your showing, totally not. I have never seen anyone in the maga circles advocate for an outright ban. Its usually a ban in schools or mandatory age gating.

The first amendment includes pornography. Conservatives will not ban it. It also is not in Project 2025. There is only one mention of pornography in Project 2025 and that is about child pornography which is usually promoted by liberals.

Yes, I know that people do everything do defend their addiction against criticism, and with porn addiction it's no different. And I know that white women think that porn is the 8th wonder of the world...

But watching porn is not as harmless as you want to pretend. In fact, watching porn gets you dumber, it literally reduces your gray matter, it's linked to depression and a range of mental issues, and in men it causes erectile dysfunction... It's a mess.

Realistically speaking, I don't think it's possible for porn to be banned, but I definitely think that watching porn should be seen as kinda harmful as smoking tobacco is, and the government should definitely make awareness campaigns to educate the community and give an overview of issues concerning porn addiction and its harm. Additionally, porn producers should be heavily taxed and porn consumers should go through age verification, so we can be sure that minors aren't consuming that filth.
