How can the separation of church and state be upheld with such a mandate? Is it okay to do as long as the Bible is viewed from an academic/literary perspective (ex: have non-religious teachers lead the class)? Should other religions be included? For example: the beliefs of Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam etc. and how they influence culture, politics, and policy

Nothing wrong with it.
The bible has so many instructions on the right way of living. Even without the worshiping of God the 10 commandments has the basics. Do not kill, steal, do not commit adultery. How many children are taught to be happy with what they have. l? In a generation of social media, people are constantly wanting more never satisfied with what they have after seeing what others have.
Politicians could learn so much about looking after and loving others instead of being greedy and looking after themselves. Imagine the next generation of politicians being raised to actually do the right thing, and not be corrupt by power.
I could say loads more but I hate long posts.
There is no such thing as "separation of church and state", at least not in any of the founding documents of the United States.
Yes, the beginning of the First Amendment reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." The purpose is to prevent the Congress, which makes the laws, from passing a law that would create a national church.
Now if church attendance, partaking of the sacraments, and having to proclaim belief in Christ were part of a mandatory class on the Bible, then yes it would be a violation of the First Amendment.
Educational standards approved in 2019 are clear that the Bible should be included in a historical reference
when Martin Luther King Jr. was in a Birmingham jail, he wrote a letter referencing Bible stories.
due to time limitations only bible. also the children can still choose what they believe, just to hear.
nobody is forcing them "accept jesus or cut off hand".
I took a lot of religion classes in college. Geanted my university was private, though.
Considering it's already incorporated in the subject of religion its surplus to requirement. It would be like making a decree that American history must be part of the circulum or that physical exercise must be part of the circulum.
Our state superintendent is a turd. Our state is already towards the bottom in income as well as education... the only list we are competing for first in is tern pregnancy and this guy wants us to get our board of education sued for his skydaddy to be happy.
I am not crazy about the idea. Schools should be teaching math , English, history and science.
the church is just another private corporation. i think mandating the interest of a private corporation into law is extremely problematic.
Why others? For fairness?
What has one to do with the other?
How many commandments are broken every day, and yet, they want to put this shit up
He's an ass. This will not stand.
Awesome!
I believe in separation of church and state
as if he doesn't know the law? there is no conflict. without your reason he can do it
Political stunt to drive lawsuits.
what happened to the first amendment
