My city has heat wave wearing this week, any ideas to stay cold during an hot wave period?
Get a snow cone (or shaved ice; there are supposedly big differences, but no two people have ever been able to articulate them to me and have them be the same) machine; you can probably find one for a few dollars at a resale shop. Eating ground-up ice cools you down for reasons that are probably obvious, and if you're concerned about calories, they make zero-calorie (and sugar free, by extension) syrups, so it doesn't taste like ice.

Take it from an Aussie, that 45 - 50 celsius (113 - 122 in the old money) is fine if you are under the shade of tree and you have plenty of cold ones on ice in an esky beside you.
Houses heat up so if no air con the best thing to do is to have lots of air going through.
During 30 C (86 F) + nights the only thing you can do is sleep on your balcony (if you have one) as naked as you can getaway with.
How hot does it get in your city?
Have a fan on in your room at all times, have a sun umbrella for shade, drink lots of iced beverages, and finally ice cream and icy treats.

Staying cool during a heat wave can be quite the challenge! Here are some tips that might help you beat the heat. First, wear light and breathable fabrics, like cotton or linen, as these can keep you cooler. Staying hydrated is key, so make sure you're drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Keep curtains or blinds closed during the hottest part of the day to keep your home cooler. Taking cool showers or baths can also help drop your body temperature. If you have access to a fan or air conditioning, make good use of them. If you don’t, sometimes placing a bowl of ice in front of a fan can give you some relief. Lastly, try to avoid heavy meals and instead eat smaller, lighter snacks. How are you managing so far?

Have a fan on or use air con, fans are more effective at night during a heatwave. Try keeping windows on the sun side shut with white sheets across the windows to reflect the heat. Wearing white will also help to keep cool, as well as drinking cold drinks, having cold showers and having a wet cloth or damp clothes
Other methods include having a cold shower and using ice packs or wet flannels under in pillows when trying to sleep. Keep windows open at night to allow any cool air in.
Get in a body of water with a cooler of beer.
