I knew a guy who won 100K but this was almost 40 years ago when that was a lot of money. My mother worked with his wife. This poor guy got pestered so much by people that wanted donations that he died of a heart attack.
I bought a lottery ticket and gave it to my niece and her husband for Christmas, that turned out to be 10k winner. I don't know if you consider that a "big" jackpot. Also my state for a few years. Always did a million dollar raffle where they sold a 100k tickets and the grand prize was a million. Not that 100k isn't still long odds but name me another lottery where you have that good of odds of winning a million. So I always bought 1 ticket (20 bucks) and I won one of the lesser prizes of 1k.
Sorry to hear about that guy.

I don't know anyone who won big. The biggest I've ever won was $2700. That was 28 years ago.
I know a woman who won $1M on a scratch ticket. Her husband is a business owner and makes a descent amount of money, so it's hard to say what came from which pot. They built a large showy house. It's a pretty house, but it's in a quaint neighborhood and the style doesn't match the area at all. They bought luxury cars and a $250k RV. They take big trips several times a year and they are surrounded by fake people.
I don't know anyone who won anything close to that much in this time. He was a lucky guy at the moment, but that really sucks how it all ended

I used to know someone who won a lottery in Germany around 1962 (he's now deceased). He seemed to have used the money well (bought a house, started a business).
My uncles are friends with the lotto lout Michael Carroll, guy won £9.6million and blew the lot in about a decade
Now he doesn't see his kids and live in a one bedroom flat earning a modest income between work and the occasional media interviewI've known several people who have won small amounts in the lottery, most of them on scratch-off tickets, but no one winning a large amount.
Best I've ever done is winning a free ticket for the next lottery. I rarely play the lottery.
there's a lady in the grocery store i go to whose brother won $2 million
We had a plan that we would not even tell our own kids. Keep it secret, keep it safe
No that be a new set of problems they likely aren't ready for.
Uncle on my wife's side won around 800k. He retired out of the military then was a prison guard for like 40 years so he didn't need it. Bought a car then gave the rest of it to his kids more or less.
I knew somebody who won $100,000 in the lottery and spent $90,000 of it on more scratch off tickets. On those tickets she won about $600.
Oh, wow. That's really sad. I'm sorry.
Lol damn he was to soft to win that
