Holiday sweets = tempting but gain weight!!

I love sweets! but not in excess. I'm so tempted to eat all the sweets we made for Christmas. cookies, candy, cake. YUM! how do I avoid them to not gain tons of weight? or give in a little? when I give in I want more, more, more though and kinda binge and feel like gross. advice?!?!
