Sometimes afternoon naps aren't planned. lol Wake up at an odd angle, covered in snoozing pets, after having what you thought was gonna be 'sitting down on the couch for a sec'. But yes. I sleep like the dead at night unless having a lot of something heavy on my mind.
I can't sleep at night unless I'm literally exhausted... I'm naturally nocturnal, but have to work during the day, so I'm always tired as hell when I'm working, then wide awake when I need to be sleeping. I can only get through my life by carefully managing my insomnia to remain in a state of utter exhaustion at all times...
Sometimes, depends on how tired I am. My sleep schedule is completely fucked right now. I'm working nights 4 days a week and working mornings 3 days a week, 2 morning shifts are after working all night.
@dustybiker2 gallows humor helps. Sadly ptsd is on the rise as well as suicides. Now there is help available to those who wish to use it. Fortunately attitudes are changing and those that wish to use them. The old stigma of being weak etc is going away. We have a pastor at our station who is available 24/7. Super nice guy to talk to, about anything, and we also have each other. For those outside of the service it is hard to understand what is dealt with on a daily basis. My standard answer to my wife is I can tell you, but I can't untell you. She also knows when to give me some space. It helps to have family support. Years ago when I in class for getting my teaching degree we had to do a presentation. I did mine on firefighter health and safety. Halfway through I had the full attention of the class, I could tell I got them thinking.
lol I bet. It takes that type of humor. I can understand that a little (still from the outside) as I grew up with a lot of law enforcement. Friends parents, then neighbors and some. You can see the difference in your eyes that you see the world differently than everyone else. They would too give a similar line. That's great you were able to open some eyes with your presentation. It would be something if you could share that further too. And I'm glad society has finally accepted seeking therapy as beneficial, as it really is. You do so much and have to bottle it.

Depends, on whether I get out after the nap and do something that tires me out before I hit the hay that evening.
More than likely I would be up later than normal.
I sleep better if I take a short nap in the afternoon. People in Spain have been doing that for centuries... siesta.
I've never been able to nap nor sleep during the day... was barely able to sleep at nights at some point... lol

Yeppers. Safety naps can be vital.
You get your ass handed to you and you're doing a 48 hour shift it helps your performance.
I had to call 911 a lot for elderly parents. Poor troops come in with their boots all untied and leaning against each other.
Ooop on late night calls. Thumb slip.
@dustybiker2 some days are like that other days aren't that bad.
There is no way to know what your day will be like.
Pros and cons to that.
It's the gruesome scenes you guys have to deal with that makes me wonder how you can handle or process it.

I can sleep as much as I want and I fall asleep within seconds every time
Lucky
Often not, which is why I try to avoid taking naps
I don't have a problem with an afternoon nap. If I fall asleep after supper It takes me hours to go to sleep.
If I nap in the afternoon I just sleep through the night. If I get up then I won’t go back to sleep easily….
Yeah. I can sleep anytime anywhere. Close my eyes and I'm like a light in a matter of minutes.
I can sleep 18 hours a day as long as I stay in the bed.
I can sleep whenever I want.
It’s a gift. And much appreciated.
Lately I wake up every hour but it feels like 4 hours. Absolute heaven
No, I can't. I don't enjoy sleeping at all
That is the craziest shit I have ever read.
@you_asked wdymm
I absolutely love sleeping especially when I have crazy dreams which is all of the time
@you_asked lol, I can't stand sleeping, I dread night time so much.
We are incompatible
I’m going to take a nap 💤
@you_asked ok lol
No so I never take naps.
It does make it harder to fall asleep
Yes of course, because I only take short naps.
