My review of Iron Mind Captains of crush grippers and how it compares to other grippers

As someone who values the benefits of grip strength, I’ve always looked for the best type of hand grippers that will give me satisfying results. Most of the cheap $10 grippers from local sports stores don’t really improve grip strength due to the fact that most of them only require between 25-60lbs of Force to close. It was a couple years ago when I decided to look into an improvement over those cheap 10 dollar grippers and that’s when I came across the Iron Mind “Captain’s of crush”.

1.) Price: Unlike the cheap 5-10 dollar ones you can get at a local sports shop, these ones cost between 25-30 dollars each. The reason being that they are made entirely out of high quality steel and thus are meant to last a lifetime.

2.)The range of difficulty: There are eleven levels of difficulty, the easiest being 60lbs while the most difficult being 365lbs. Many adult men struggle to close the 167.5lb gripper While many adult women struggle to close the 100 lb gripper. These grippers aren’t adjustable, so as you get stronger, you to gradually have to buy tougher captain’s crush grippers until you reach the 365lb gripper.

3.) Size doesn’t matter: These three words put together tend to anger a lot of people, specifically those who are on the larger side because it’s a devastating blow to their egos. And in this case “Size doesn’t matter” means a lot because it truly doesn’t matter how tall you are or how much you weigh. With sufficient dedication, anybody can build world class grip strength. One specific individual managed to fully close the 280lb gripper despite only being a 5’8”, 154lb 15 year old boy.

4.) They will facilitate everyday tasks: I was surprised by how much easier my everyday tasks got, Ever since I started to use Captain’s of crush grippers I could carry more grocery bags than I use to be able to carry, I could move around heavy boxes much faster than I use to and use gardening tools more effectively.

No, that’s not me.

5.) They give you an edge in sports: Whether it be martial arts, rock climbing, tennis, baseball, cricket, etc. Strong hands and forearms will greatly improve your performance. Your opponents will find it harder to escape your submissions, your forearms won’t fatigue as fast when rock climbing, you won’t accidentally let go of your tennis racket, etc.

6.) Captains of crush vs other heavy grippers: When it comes to quality and durability, Captains of crush are the best grippers, you can find. The only other gripper that’s on par with Captains of crush are Gillingham high performance grippers.

C.O.C vs Heavy grippers: When it comes to price, you’ll notice a tremendous gap between these two. Captain’s of crush are $25, while heavy grippers are $15. Even though there’s a $10 dollar difference, they are nearly identical except for a few differences. The most notable difference is the fact that COCs are wider and thus are more difficult to close. While heavy grippers are narrower and thus are easier to close. A 195lb COC gripper is harder to close than a 200lb heavy gripper.

C.O.C vs RB(Robert Baraban) grippers: Once again, the similarities are the same but the major difference is that RB grippers have thicker handles than COC and are thus easier to close.

COC vs Gillingham high performance grippers: These two grippers are pretty much on par with each other in regards to quality and difficulty. The only minor difference is in the handles. GHP grippers handles are designed to facilitate finger placement on the gripper. But besides that, they are pretty much the same.

Iron mind COC vs Iron mind zenith: Both grippers are from the same company but Zenith are a newer design that have silky smooth handles and are meant to feel more comfortable. The COCs are still slightly harder to close by design. A 235lb COC will be slightly harder to close than a 235lb Zenith gripper due to the thicker handles of the zenith.

7.) Certification: Captain’s of crush offer certifications which is recognition for exceptional hand and forearm strength. So if you are capable of closing any of them the top three most difficult grippers, your name will be added to a list of people who have also closed the hardest grippers.

8.) Compact: A nice thing about these grippers is that they are compact so you can carry them with you on vacations.

9.) Primarily designed for grip strength: Captains of crush, like any grippers will primarily build your grip strength. It won’t help you develop dexterity as much as other types of hand exercisers like Baoding balls and Prohands “Gripmasters” which are designed primarily for dexterity. I personally supplement my grip strength training by using baoding balls and Prohands gripmasters along with my captains of crush that way I can develop both grip strength and dexterity.

10.) Helps your overall strength training: Whether I do squats, bench, curls, weight machines etc. I noticed that ever since I stated using captains of crush grippers, I could hold onto the equipment longer and it’s easier to lift weights.

overall: I personally rate Iron Mind’s captain’s crush 10/10. They are durable, easy to use, compact and produce satisfying results. I definitely recommend Captain’s of crush to anyone who wants to develop serious hand and forearm strength.
