Men’s fashion is such an excellent way to examine the values of toxic masculinity. Often the only “okay” jewelry for men to wear is a watch of some kind or a chain, specifically those big, ugly thick ones that weigh like 2 pounds. And if you spin the clock back about 300 years, you see this wasn’t the case in the days of the baroque period where men wore high heels, shorter pants and tights to accentuate their legs bc it was attractive, wearing jewelry like rings and bracelets was a sign of wealth and meant to be shown off. As the idea of how a man can show off his body changed, so did men’s fashion. The issue with a lot of men’s accessorizing in the modern day is that so many toxic men are not okay with gay men. And nobody loves seeing a man showing off his body than a gay man. So comparing the 2020’s to the 1970’s, you see back then we had men with open shirts, tight bellbottom pants, fluffy hair, all ways to show off their bodies and sex appeal. Nowadays you see… blocks. Everything is blocky and baggy and nothing shows anything off to anyone. There are certainly men with style but seeing them and how they embrace it the immediate assumption is that they’re gay, or at least not entirely heterosexual. This is slowly changing as a lot of men unlearn a lot of that toxic masculinity and they’re taking care to try and show more style, but if he’s just wearing an open overshirt everywhere to try and style himself, he might be a little toxic about masculinity and what it “should” be.
Yeah guys can wear silver or cold guys jewlery or one earlier Pearce's doesn't mean there gay but in the photo pearls are more for women no pearls but guys wearing guys necklaces rings and bracelets and chains are fine doesn't mean one bit that there gay no judging before knowing I hate people that judge before they know the full story I was asked by plenty of people if I was a lesbian because I get turned on by one women who's a movie star Uma Thurman but I'm not liking one women doesn't mean am one I get turned on by no other women only her doesn't mean I'm a lesbian just like guys wearing peaces of jewelry doesn't mean there gay I wouldn't really say they should wear pearls though they are to much a women's thing
Pearls are fine on guys, the problem is there needs to be accent beads between each pearl, so it doesn't look ugly.
I like fashion and jewlery is part of it, but i will always select certain jewlery if it balances an outfit. For guys who wear vests and open shirts, i recommend looking into "sweater clips". There's some very nice ones out there made of silver chain and they keep the wind from blowing your shirt/vest off. For necklaces, i tend to incorperate renfair style clothing into my outfits (renfair lace clothing is lenin cotton, so it is very comfortable & breathable for summer heat), so viking and chainmail style necklaces are perfect. I'm also a big nerd so a few of my necklaces are variants of the hyrulian shield. When it comes to other jewelry, i have pagan & viking hair pins, brooches/pins that show off my interests (it makes for easier small talk, when people can see what you're into), certain cosplay accessories for renfair & D&D night (people are easily entertained by pointy ears), stylish sunglasses, and clip-on earrings (i don't wear earrings often enough, to need piercings). rings are a hard one to do, but i do have a few.
Nah, that’s cool. But my lady and I were just talking about this yesterday…. Gen Z dudes are wearing PEARLS, lmao. Even if you say “hey, I think it’s cool that the younger generation of men aren’t so bound by putting on a front of hyper-masculinity, and they’ll paint their nails or wear pearl necklaces”, there’s still the issue that pearls are formal wear, and look silly and out of place with casual clothing. But any standard necklace, that’s pretty unremarkable to me. I always wear a necklace of some sort, I feel naked without one, haha
I honestly have always thought strands of only pearl necklaces were such ugly jewelry. Like, seriously, add some accents in between the pearl beads, that way you don't roll up looking like you're trying to be Wilma flintstone.

Yeah because I’m gonna think it’s one of these testosterone-deficient males with ZERO MUSCLE; who say:
“ WHAT DOES ANY FEMALE ON EARTH BRING TO THE TABLE?”
Like none of us females are at risk of DEATH anytime we birth their hideous offspring. 🙄 ABSURD.
The ones with earrings and necklaces need to be in prison, picking up a bar of soap 🧼 in there.
Then they call ask eachother what they all bring to the table in there. And they can all buy eachother necklaces and earrings and rings in there. Picking up the bar of soap 🧼 in there. All Day, Every Day 😂
I wear a signet ring and my wedding ring on my left hand. I wear a copper torc on my left wrist because you absorb elemental copper through the skin and it helps with chronic pain.
I sometimes wear a simple cross on a silver chain round my neck, but not often as I have very acidic skin.
I don't have piercings anywhere and I wouldn't wear pearls if my life depended on it. I'm not part of Johnny Depp's "Pirates" crew...
Why no pearls?
I see a lot of boys where I am (more teen boys and guys in their early 20's) wearing chain necklaces and the cross earrings. They used to not and now they do. They have also been getting a nose ring. I have never seen a guy wear a pearl necklace tho
4kg Gold Havana chain doesn't differ much from pearl necklace in my opinion on boy's neck. It's a free world and everyone can do they want to but don't expect admiration from my side for such decorations which a man doesn't really need.
I work construction I can't wear jewelry because it always gets caught on something whether it's a ring a watch a necklace chain it's just not good to wear now if I go out someplace I will wear what I have
Well a necklace such as in the picture would be somewhat weird on a guy for sure. Usually a man would have a gold or silver chain as a necklace or bracelet usually just to show that you have more money than you need.
On guys, I like a gold necklace or two with a trinket on them. A nice watch and maybe a gold bracelet. If he wears an earring, I'd prefer to see a diamond stud, on one ear, but only some men can pull that off. Wedding rings and maybe a pinky ring. I'm not into other jewelry/piercings on guys, though some wear it well.
The only jewelry I wear is watch because it looks professional but it's not bad any guy can wear what he wants
Nah, nothing wrong with it.
I wear stud earrings all the time when I'm out, but I often forget to wear chains and bracelets, because I think they can elevate an outfit.
I think there is nothing wrong with men wearing jewelry or getting their Hair done at the barbershop, keeping themselves up at the nail salon with a pedicure, having some type of hygiene maintenance is attractive.
No, guys have worn crosses or silver/gold chains, family rings, etc. for centuries, why wouldn’t be bad?
I mean if you've seen Jeff Hardy with his necklace oh boy I think it's fine
Agree
Looks gay as hell to me. They can do what they want, but they need to accept that there will be judgment that comes with it as with anything you do in life.
A thin silver chain does it for me damnnnn also pls don’t wear any gold accessories if ur a guy, only wear silver !!!
What’s wrong with gold?
It’s very tacky. Gives off too much. Like with men the jewellery should be discovered, don’t leave it out on the open!
Um ok lol. Whatever you say
No. I think men should wear whatever they want, whether it be jewelry, men’s clothing, women’s clothing, a giant yeti costume, etc.
Depends. If he's doing it to look feminine it's bad.
Why? What’s wrong worth being feminine
@CrabCakes11 I believe in living up to the traditions of my ancestors. The men who built civilizations. Not the soft feminine people trying to destroy it.
It's not bad. But men's jewelry is a different style from women's jewelry.
I think it's hot as hell when guys wear toe rings.
No, I wear 8 rings, 2 chains, a bracelet and a watch every day but I'm in the business so I am biased
Bad? No. Maybe not pearls like the picture, but I don't see it as bad if a man wears jewelry.
