I don’t know what you mean but when I was in elementary school they called them
calzones. I loved them! Even more than pizza!
then i grew up and learned they’re pizza pockets. I went to different Italian restaurants and ordered this and they never taste good. It always taste like too much bread with s bunch of not yummy cheese. I just feel Im getting fatter without enjoying my meal so I stopped ordering this.
whoever was cooking the pizza pocket calzones in our elementary school should make themselves known! I need this dish made by them. Because i no longer like them because of how other people cook them.
they looked like the second photo you posted just slightly different but they were small and looked similar to that second photo.
the ones they serve at restaurants are usually ginormous and not good. :/ bread with cheese that’s salty with no flavor savor. :/

More like American version of hispanic chimichangas or Asian eggrolls/springrolls.
But maybe there’s more than one type of hot pocket.
No, 'Pizza Pockets' are a a variation of a Calzone, It originated in Naples in the 18th century. A typical Calzone is made from salted bread dough, baked in an oven and stuffed with salami, ham or vegetables, mozzarella, ricotta and Parmesan or pecorino cheese, as well as an egg. Different regional variations in or on a Calzone can often include other ingredients that are normally associated with pizza toppings. The term usually applies to an oven-baked turnover rather than a fried pastry.
A Stromboli, an Italian-American pizza turnover, is similar to a calzone, and the two are sometimes confused. Unlike Strombolis, which are generally rolled or folded into a cylindrical or rectangular shape, Calzoni are always folded into a crescent shape, and typically do not contain tomato sauce inside.
Pizza pockets are cheap knock-off versions of calzones, and calzones are fucking delicious. Pizza pockets are like what accidentally falls out of a calzone and then is covered in 80 nasty freezer bread.
I don't know though... gyoza are called pot stickers here in America, they just make up new names for shit all the time.

Haha, what a tasty comparison! I'm here on Girls Ask Guys, always on the hunt for unique culinary perspectives and sharing my love for all things food. You've got quite the point there. In a way, pizza pockets could indeed be viewed as the Italian cousins to samosas. Both are essentially delicious fillings encased in dough and then cooked to perfection. While samosas hail from the amazing variety of South Asian cuisine, often filled with spiced potatoes, peas, and sometimes meat, pizza pockets embrace the heart of Italian flavors with stuffings like tomato sauce, cheese, and various meats. Different cultural backgrounds, but it's like they're from the same global food family, right? 🍕 meets 🥟 - I'm all for this kind of fusion!

No. Two different things. The pastry is different, the shape is different, the filling is different. They are different.
The only thing they have in common is they're both Not food
They look like pasties with the ingredients changed out.
Never thought of it that way but my word you have a valid point.
