But how dumb do you have to be to not know how to make pancakes from scratch?
I've got zero respect for anyone who buys a packet of pancake mix.
You're probably going to have to explain to about 3/4 of the people here that by "pancake" you mean "crêpe".
My crêpe pan (lighter and shallower than normal frying pans, to make flipping easier) has the recipe printed on the bottom, but I never really use it - I much prefer North American style pancakes with maple syrup. Oh, and I inherited a nice cast iron Dutch "poffertjes" pan, which I get out occasionally.
"I disagree, I buy the ones that you just add egg and milk to. They're great."
Here in Korea, we HAVE to use pancake mix if we want to make pancakes! (Although South Korea is definitely more of a waffle country than anything.) They're also used ot make dorayaki and taiyaki (fishy-bread pies), among other things.
I don’t know if it’s me who can’t make those from the shaker bottles or they just always taste bad, like rubbery?
Pancake ingredients are pantry staples, we do from scratch here… mainly for brinner. Because I don’t like to make cooked breakfasts as early as my kid wakes up
We used a pancake mix cus my step ma is lazy and can't follow simple instructions equal mix of egg, flour and milk. I found the batter to be very watery and it definitely didn't taste nearly as good as the homemade ones I made a couple of weeks ago

I prefer crepes. I appreciate that they're really thin and can be rolled up with a topping inside or outside as well. I find I feel good after having crepes whereas with pancakes after like just one it sort of seems heavy and leaves me feeling blah. I don't not like pancakes, I just find that crepes are way better.
It's exeedingly rare using mixes here in Sweden, I don't even think you can get it in the big chain markets, I think you have to go to one of those small immigrant shops with unique products. And as pankaces are my all time favorite food it is nothing short of blasphemy.
Never heard of that until now. Pretty lazy in my opinion. We are living in a world where people really think chocolate milk comes from brown cows 🤷♂️. I am not surprised about this. I am a chef and i make my food from scratch all the time. I can't make butter nor cheese but i bake the bread and almost all meals we have home are homemade.
It's just laziness or stupidity, pancake batter is probably the easiest thing in the world to make, and tastes better than shop bought powdered mix crap.
I don't give one single crap what you pancake snobs think of me
I'm not getting flour and sugar all over my counter
And sitting there with some little spoons measuring out baking powder and salt
I spent a good bit yesterday bashing out some batter.
had to make sure it was just right consistency.
Always sort your own batter.
No pancakes must be made by hand with the same mixture used for Yorkshire puddings. If you buy ready made batter you may as well but ready made pancakes, just like buying Aunt Bessie's Yorkshire's.
What I want to know is with all of these foods you are always eating; how do you stay so skinny?
B is just describing flour, isn't it? Maybe self-raising.
Just to make this clear I'm asking this for a friend how do you make pancakes from scratch and what were you talking about when you said lemons
I buy the ones you just add water too..
I don't even respect myself.
Homemade from scratch from the pancake owner it’s always best homemade than going out to any restaurants or finding it in the frozen foods section at your local grocery store
Pancakes from scratch are usually teh best, but those from a mix can also be good.
I have a LOT more important shit to attend to in my life than how someone else makes pancakes. If you actually came online to ask this you must live a pretty easy care-free life.
I prefer home made. I don't add any fancy toppings. I just like them plain, you know?
I buy the Stonewall Kitchen Pancake and waffle mix. I add extra eggs and blueberries.
There’s nothing wrong with store bought mix. There’s nothing wrong with store bought cookies. People are free to live life the way they want to live it, and do what is convenient for them.
I once set an egg on fire when frying it. Yes I respect people who can cook decently.
I've never seen those mixes in our groceries.
I don't care either way.
