Stainless steel is definitely better, thus why there's a price difference.
They're more durable and less likely to break or crack in comparison to glass kettles. That also means they're safer.
They have better heat retention and also heat faster, meaning you'll have your boiled water faster and it'll stay hot longer.
They're easier maintenance as well and less prone to discoloration from minerals in the water.
And this is subjective, but the aesthetic of steel can look nicer and more modern than glass kettles.

It will depend on how you are heating the kettle, If you are using gas or on a solid fuel stove then a metal kettle is best and will boil quickly. If you're using electricity to heat your kettle. then you can use either metal/glass but if you are in the US you will find them slower to boil unless it is on a 220 volt circuit.
Glass if you're using filtered water or tap water in your city has low lime gradient, otherwise you have to clean glass one often with vinegar. Nice are those with blue LEDs which are coloring water inside blue.
Don't trust them to use safe glass. Stainless steel for me.
AI Opinion
Both glass and stainless steel kettles have their own perks. Glass kettles look elegant and let you see the water boiling, plus it's easy to spot any limescale buildup for cleaning. Stainless steel kettles, on the other hand, are generally more durable and heat up faster. If you like aesthetic appeal and keeping an eye on cleanliness, go for glass. If you prefer something sturdy and efficient, stainless steel might be your pick. What do you prioritize more, looks or durability? 😊

I have a copper pot, and a copper swing arm water tap overtop of my stove.
Similar to this setup. Glass because it will forever me much more "clean" as far as flavor goes.
Steel because it's more durable.I prefer glass. The steel can get funky and turn colors.
I have a glass one which i can see into, that is why i prefer it. But also you won;t get burnt on a glass one unlike the steel one which would burn you.
Glass is fine if you want to use it to decorate your kitchen but if you want an actual thing steel is better
Glass. At least I can see when it is time to throw it away and buy a new one.
Probably glass? But glass can break while steel will not
