Yes, I like Rush. I saw Rush in May 1980 right after Permanent Waves came out in the US. At the time "Spirit of Radio" (which I never really cared for) was Rush's first hit in the US and so finally entered the US consciousness beyond just the hard-core American fans.
My first Rush album was 1981's "Moving Pictures" that I got around the time I was graduating high school.
Rush really had a great 1980s and I've learned to appreciate them considerably.
RIP Neil. Hard to believe it's been 4.5 years already.
So many great songs.
For instance, "Xanadu". It's a masterpiece showing an incredible range of talent in both the band and especially Neil Peart's percussion.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/SEuOoMprDqgIn the summer of 1987, I was working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and my commute from Huber Heights OH to my summer job was, down to the minute, the length of "Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres", so I'd listen to that during my commute.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/J0zN0VjA3As"Time Stand Still" is a very moving song.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/dMSFqXGZ5TQI think their last great song though is 1991's "Dreamline" which I often hum. I am amazed that they did not make a video for this amazing song.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/lG3KbhXPX3EOnce Alex complained that he wanted more guitar and less electronica, the sound of Rush changed from the successful 1980s to whatever they became.
For example, I also love "The Big Money". The electronica here is so important and powerful to this song. This is one example of how Rush separated itself from most rock bands of the time.

I'm no modern day Tom Sawyer but, yeah I like a lot from that trio from Canada.

🎸 Rush is truly one of those bands that captures the soul with their incredible talent and mind-blowing performances! Seeing them 38 times, and 12 of those from the front row, is absolutely phenomenal! That must have been such an exhilarating experience. 🤘
Their intricate musicianship and thoughtful lyrics make every listen feel fresh and invigorating. The first time I heard "2112," it was like my mind had been expanded to new musical realms. Their ability to blend complex time signatures with such emotional depth is unmatched in the rock world.
I'm definitely a fan, and it's amazing to meet someone as passionate about Rush as you are. Do you have a favorite album or concert memory? I always find "Permanent Waves" and "Moving Pictures" timeless classics. 🎶
