If your building has elevators, always use the stairs instead. If you have a choice between walking 2 blocks or driving your car, walk. Or have a bike at work you can use. Always do the stuff that requires extra physical work and you will help maintain your muscles. When I lived in a city with a subway that was deep under ground, I was always *running* up the stairs instead of taking the escalator or elevator. This was when I was 20s... I'm still in very good shape now.

Anyhow, never do what other people do unless you want to end up where they are.

Get up every now and then, stretch, standing offices are an option where I work, some even sit on a giant ball, and of course working out after working hours.
