An overload of religious paraphernalia
Signs of drug usage
Empty fridge/cabinets/pantry
A hoard of pets/animals
No where to sit (and they moved in 5 years ago)

  @TrueConfection Not specifically, but if he's like, you can grab a water, and I open the fridge and it's got like 2 water bottles, a ketchup packet, and a container of cheese whiz...I'm not encouraged by his ability to do basic things like grocery shop.

  My husband had only milk in his fridge for his coffee when we were dating. He dined out for every meal. Grocery shopping is definitely not his strength, but I can count on him to pick up milk on his way home.

  @TrueConfection Luckily it worked out for you, but I had the opposite problem dating this guy with bare cupboards who wanted a mommy to cook and clean for him. He literally only had plastic dishes and cutlery he could throw away because he said, he never wanted to do dishes despite having a dishwasher. Same with grocery shopping. He would only go when he was apparently near starvation. I mean...really....

How their kitchen looks like if the kitchen and the living room are connected. But generally speaking I take a look clean their place not necessarily how messy but mostly how they handle food garbage and what is laying around.
A big redflag would be that I find a plate with rest of food somewhere either under the couch or somewhere else in the house.

In all honesty, I don't enter a stranger's house all that often. The last time I remember doing so was last spring in Europe. I don't get too bent out of shape about small things. Especially considering most likely I will never enter it again. Life is too short to worry about small stuff!

A load of smoked cigarretes in an ash tray, lighters in the living room. Also the sort of magazines, books or certain newspapers you find can be a red flag.

Clothes on the floor, a lot of glasses and dishes on the table that seem to have been there for days, same goes for the kitchen sink if it's full of dirty tableware. Papers and random objects everywhere, etc.
Basically, i don't like disorder, i hate it when people just leave stuff on tables or furniture and let it grow.
