Why do people stare mad mostly at me when I'm with my boyfriend?

We can be walking and talking, standing in line, and we both noticed I get mean looks by women always a mad look at me or they first look at him smiling then mad at me. He also noticed guys stare me me checking me out. Sometimes I'm just walking not looking around and boyfriend tells me "wow did you see how that girl was staring at you?". My boyfriend and I are 25 but we look 18. Around same height and both fit so I dont know why do they stare. Sometimes I ask him am I the ugly one? Is this common to happen?
