It all depends on how much inheritance we are talking about, over what period they spend it, and what did they spend it on. If you were living under your parent’s roof as an adult and continued to live rent free and being provided for, then you have no say in it. It’s your parents! If they spend it on alcohol or buying themselves a new car, that can be questioned. If the money was spent over x number of years to provide for you by for instance renovating the house etc. Again, they provided for you. If you lived in foster homes/shelter homes and they used the money, then that is questionable. Again, what did they spend it on?
When you say “Stole” your inheritance – if you were an adult by law – the money would surely be had been put into a trust fund for your or your account. My guess is you were not an adult then and your parents had guardianship and could use the money freely.
Wow! You are quite intuitive. Excellent feedback. Thank you for your help. I have much to consider.
My parents always helped me out when I was growing up. My dad cosigned a car loan for me to buy my first car. If they took an inheritance that was meant for me, they probably needed it. If I got the inheritance I would have given some to them anyway.
That's such a beautiful relationship to have. You are very blessed ✨
♥️♥️♥️
You are not the only one this happens to. This type of thing is quite prevalent actually.
Didn't Brittany Spears go through something like that with her Dad?
Money is tight now a days s. If you are going to need this money they stole from you in the future, then you'll have to go to court to get it back.
Actually it could be a criminal offense - grand theft. They might get arrested, who knows?
If they still have your money, they need to give it back to you.
Omfg! It did happen to Brittany Spears and I think Honey Boo Boo had the same thing happen with her mother. What's scary, is how some of the mothers are willing to steal from their children without regard but can't even be bothered to apologize.
The episode that I watched, her mother just made excuses but no apologies or solutions to the problem that THEY created. It's astonishing and unbelievable human behavior.
@Secret6620
That's why I think you need to fight to get your money that was left to you. Why should anyone but you get your inheritance?
Brittany Spears had to fight her Dad who ripped her off.
I felt so bad for Brittany. They destroyed her and she has to pick up the pieces by herself.
This is VERY solid advice! Thank you so much for your help.
@Secret6620
It sure gives you something to consider. I am glad I could shed a different view for you to see. I'm glad I mentioned what happened to Brittany because it was something you knew had happened to someone besides yourself.
You gotta fight for what is rightfully yours!
Yes!!! I am happy you mentioned Brittany too because I just started feeling all these emotions. Like no one really talks about what happened to Brittany and she was one of my idols growing up. 🥺😭
If they do that than that's on them, I don't like the mindset of relying on inheritance anyways. I would continue with my work and be okay with my income. I would keep relations alive but would keep my distance. I don't like to waste time on teaching people a lesson, life is too short for it. I am a firm believer of what goes around, comes around.
Very interesting! Thank you for sharing your thoughts 💭

Wow, um lol 😆 i really don't know what I'd do. I know I'd be upset yet at the same time if I were to get the inheritance in the first place I would always give to and help my parents. The issue here is that these people didn't tell the daughter or son about the inheritance to begin with then spent it. So what is their son/daughter to do when they come up on hard times, need to go to college, lose a job? I'd be disappointed
Exactly! I absolutely LOVE your post. It's so deep and full of wisdom.
I really enjoyed reading your thoughts on this topic! I think you made a critical point when you mentioned, "The issue here is that these people didn't tell the daughter or son about the inheritance to begin with then spent it". This is a great debate of morality, loyalty, honesty, and integrity. The most important character traits in my opinion.
Thank you for taking the time to leave detailed feedback. We need more opinions like yours on this site!
My parents did well financially but squandered their money on themselves for the most part. They helped my sisters whenever they needed it but kicked the boys out as soon as they could. If I found out another relative left me money and they stole it, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest like of course they did. 🤣
Oh my goodness! I am sooooo sorry that you experienced that. Makes me a bit sad. Parents are supposed to be selfless and fair. 😞
Not much I can do. I'd be sad that my grandmother didn't get to carry out her wishes.
I don't expect an inheritance from anyone, so it's no loss to me.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Take them to court so they can pay me for the rest of their lives lol but honestly they wouldn't of done that to me anyways since I'm their favourite.
You're the favorite! 😍🥰 I love that! 🌹
It's theirs until they die. It's not my inheritance until then so they haven't stolen anything from me.
Very well said!
Life Pro Tip: never expect help from anyone at all. Always assume you are on your own and that it’s up to you to get ahead. That way you won’t be disappointed when things don’t go your way.
Extreme Ownership.
This is a really good tip! Thank you for sharing your thoughts 💭
Nothing I'd still love them. They took very good care of me. Plus I have my own money thanks to them making sure I got a good education. I love them sooo much for always being there for me!!! My mom is in heaven but my dad is my best friend 🧡
Very nice!
I'd give them one and only one chance to admit they were wrong and return the funds owed.
If they didn't return was was mine, I would see them in court and cut them out if my life permanently.
I do not tolerate thieves.
I feel the EXACT same way. Absolutely no tolerance for thieves. Especially within the family.
Depends if it was supposed to go directly to me or if they were to hold it, probably have a talk with them
This definitely sounds like a good idea
This really depends on your relationship with and situation of your parents. I would never find myself in that situation, but if I did, I’d probably lawyer up, but that’s just how I am.
I agree with you. Lawyering up might be the best idea. Just to be on the safe side.
I feel like there’s something you’re not telling us…
🙊🙈
You’ll come around. I know you want to.
They can't since it comes directly from th rdd m at death and the test they have for me is locked from anyone opening it until they die, they can only put money in it.
Oh I see what you mean!
Actually I signed my inheritance from my grandmama over to my mom. Not doing so would have negatively affected my existing income, and mom and I share the funds anyway. She’s a very special person.
I wish I had the funds to get her a new mouthful of teeth. Implants, not mere dentures.
I woudl've gotten a receipt for that slipper lol 🥿 🎿 they're expensive y'all 😆
, would've dang typo
Ahahaha 😂🤣👏
I'm a USA American. We sue over everything. 🤷🏻♂️
I know that's right! 🇺🇲
Sue their asses off. Of course, they could file bankruptcy and have judgements eliminated...
This is a really good idea! People shouldn't steal maliciously like that without some sort of consequences.
Exactly
I would sue them
I think this is the best idea 💡! Hold them accountable ⚖️ Like, if you take it, just be willing to give it back. Nobody gets hurt right 🤷♀️
Definitely
That was my vote too lol 😂⚖️
what IS it with this di-isney junk?
Expose expose expose
This made me giggle 😂!!!

She don’t need to do what you say
