What's the deal with hooking up?

None of the girls I know do these "hook-up" things. None.

Why can't I find a hook-up?

I'm tall, fit, good looking, smart, funny, casual/comfortable and a good conversationalist. I've tried being direct and indirect, flirting with random girls, flirting with friends, going on "open-ended" non-date "dates", etc. Yes, I've even tried "not trying" (for a f-ing year!)

I honestly don't know *anybody* that hooks up for sex. How the s**t do you find a hook up!?

Great answers! Cocky and sexual it is. Now I just have to break out of this shy guy shell. What's the best way to deal with rejection? How can I recognize a rejection and what should my reaction be? Do you usually consider him an a-hole if you reject him?
