So I have a great guy friend who is sweet but shy around girls and thus he is a twenty something virgin. He seems intimidated by girls making the first move, but does not have the guts to do so him self. He's sweet and I'd like to be more than friends but don't want to freak him out, any ideas?

If he's set on remaining a virgin until marriage or something, then don't. It probably will not end well, and could cause quite a bit of hurt.

If you think he's just shy, this isn't the case at all. The key is probably to be very slow and deliberate. Don't spring your intentions on him at once; he'll probably just get freaked out and retreat. At the same time, don't be so careful that he doesn't even realize what you're trying to do. Just take gentle steps - start out with a relatively harmless act like physical contact in the non-erogenous zones. When he gets comfortable with that, take it a bit farther. Let him set the pace, but you set the direction that things are going in.

Well no problem! (Used to be shy myself) Talk to him until he feels comfortable around you,  (perhaps get him a little drunk( not pissed just tipsy) )And the make some phisical contact - depending on his reaction. perhaps push your fingers through his hair or something like that to start with. If he even shy`s back from this, try to just hold his hand. He`ll be ok with this You can advance the steps  little by little, and by the time you kiss him he will be wax in your hand. At least it would have worked with me when I was still like that! I guess he would like to get involved with girls but he is just afraid of doing something wrong. Good luck!

I was friend was in exactly the same position... it took me a good year to finally get her guy out of his shell, but once  I did it was the best accomplishment I'd ever achieved and I think we have a fantastic relationship now, he's over every other weekend. I think the best way I found was to not pressuraise anything and just be paitent, its not a comfortable situation for any guy to be in, just show him how to take control and take things easy. :-) Start off as friends, have a few cheeky dates, take your time and it will gradually grow into blossoming, committed rleationship, as I found out!

Are you trying to start a relationship or are you just trying to hook up with this guy? If you're just looking for a hook up, a shy virgin probably isn't your best option. If you like him, ask him to dinner or something. Tell him how you feel, and you probably shouldn't expect him to pick up signals on his own. Be direct.

Go slow and be honest with your intentions. Don't play any games, he's not going to say no.

The way you worded that question and the fact you asked it tell me you would be perfect for this guys first time. The fact you are thinking about it shows you are caring, so that should come across naturally and he will respond to that. I don't think you need to do anything special, just be yourself.

Oh and be prepared for him to fall for you after lol :)

Just try and make him feel conformable at first. I know what it is like to a shy guy personally. Just start of as being friends for a bit though. I know it is not what you want but for him you have to do that or else it won't work.

perhaps the guy is just afraid of something. perhaps he's afraid to ask you out or your friend out since he doesn't know how to do it. He's been a virgin for 20 years already so maybe he doesn't know what you might think once he asks you out. try to talk to him a lot then later on, you can insert the flirting into the conversation ( or maybe he'll eventually open it himself).
