Dinner and a movie. Most of you have probably been there done that, bought the t-shirt. While the wine and dine schematic is a great old stand by, one often craves something new and different, particularly when it comes to impressing someone special. In response to that, I have compiled a list of fun and innovative ideas for people with various interests. Although they are categorized, these activities may appeal to anyone, there are no hard and fast rules. Hopefully, you and your love interest have already discovered several things in common, and can use this as a guideline to get started on that fantastic, one of a kind, date!

ATHLETIC
Are you and your mate into health and fitness? Well, below are a number of activities you can both enjoy!

Snorkeling
If you are lucky enough to live near a beach that offers this activity, sign up for it. Not only is it great exercise, the aquatic atmosphere can be a breathtakingly beautiful and serene backdrop for the date, (not to mention the fact that you'll get to see one another in sexy bathing suits!)

Hiking
This is really nice if you are both nature lovers as well as fitness nuts. Find a trail that is centralized to both your locations, so it is easy to get to. Once there, hunt for an idyllic rest stop, where you enjoy one on one conversation next to an amazing view. Bringing picnic supplies via backpacks is optional.

Roller Blading
If you have a pair, whip those puppies out and roll around the park. If not, you can easily remedy that by going to a nearby roller rink. In between skating, you can grab something to eat or drink while you sit and people watch, an invigorating exercise in and of itself.

GOTHIC MATES
Romantic, broody, and dark types can connect and find past times that suit their tastes, all they have to do is look.

Concerts
Are the Baus Haus in Town? The Cure? How about Souixie Sous? Any time of the year, a kick ass Goth band is playing around town, from local dudes, to big names. If you and your partner enjoy your music with a slice of the bleak and blackly ironic, then a rock concert is the perfect choice, particularly since many Goths are loyal music lovers.

Film Fest
A Film Fest that offers deep, meaningful, even somewhat grim insights on love or life are often appreciated by Goths. A local newspaper or circular may have listings for celluloid related fare in your area.

Write Poetry
This may seem cliche, but Goths are very emotive. Don't be afraid to express yourself. You two may greatly enjoy reading one anothers take on certain subjects. Challenge one another by picking topics to write about, then explore them further.

BRAINIACS

Museum
Whether it is scientific, historical or botanical in nature, one can find a museum that will cater to a host of interests, just be sure to find out what type of museum your honey would like to go to. It would be very bad indeed, if you decided to go to the botanical gardens and learned your date was horribly allergic to flowers.

Theatre
Not all theatre programs are super highbrow or expensive. Chose something light and fun, as "Madame Butterfly" may be too heavy a choice for a first date. If however, you both adore dark melodrama, and would enjoy sitting in a nice cafe, dissecting the subtle nuances of the play after the show is over, then by all means, don't hesitate to purchase tickets.

SOCIAL BUTTERFLIES

Cook Out
You are a laid back couple who enjoy casually mingling amongst friends, so an outdoor cookout may be just what the doc ordered! You can either do the cooking yourself and invite a few folks, or go to the home of someone who is grilling out. Either way, it is date tailor made for friendly extroverts.

House Party
A party is a great place to hang out and break the ice for people who enjoy entertaining and relating with others. The party can be small and intimate, like a cocktail dinner, or a big, informal affair, complete with a loud music and board games.

Volunteering
For social butterflies who lean towards activism, a charity bike ride or run may be a way to help your favorite charity, as well as find out more about the person you have an interest in. Activities where we get to show our more loving and caring sides, allows us to put our best foot forward, and gives a potential love interest a glimpse into another aspect of our character.

ARTSY TYPES

Art Classes
If you draw, write or paint, nothing is more thrilling than sharing that creative side with someone. Something like, let's say, a pottery class is just the way to bond with a guy or gal pal, and you may just find that they are as passionate about the arts as you are.

Craft Project
Creating a mosaic, putting together a collage or building a sculpture together can signal to your date that you are not only creative, but able to work alongside someone to achieve a desired and shared goal, a valuable relationship tool.

When it comes to dating activities, common interest is a great place to start, after all, dating is supposed to be a getting to know one another process. And just think, even it doesn't turn out to be a love connection; you've met someone you can hang out with who enjoys a passion of yours. If that is the case, you may have gained something just as valuable as romance - a genuine friendship. If it does end up in a love match, you've gotten off to a great start, and will have created a lasting memory that you can reflect upon for years to come.

homer Try Zoos if there is one in town. Those animals can be so fun to watch -ever seen that video of monkey scratching his butt and then sniffing his fingers and falling off the tree- and can also be inspirational for conversation starters. - More than a year ago
